PRIVACY POLICY FOR STUDENTS AND APPLICANTS FOR ADMISSION
Qualitech Maritime Academy (the "Academy") respects your right to privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information.
Our Privacy Policy (the "Policy") explains:

Our Terms of Agreement (the "Terms") constitute the contract between you and the Academy. By signing, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these provisions. Other Academy rules and regulations not inconsistent with this Policy remain in full effect.
I. PRIVACY POLICY
We comply with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173) and cooperate with the National Privacy Commission (NPC). The Academy balances your individual privacy with our legitimate interests as a maritime training and educational institution.
1. Information We Collect
We collect personal data in various forms (written, digital, photographic, or biometric) during application, enrollment, and throughout your stay.
Application Data: Name, contact details, family history, previous academic records, disciplinary history, and medical certificates.
Academic & Training Records: Classes enrolled, scholastic performance, attendance, and maritime shipboard training/practicum details.
Co-Curricular & Security: Participation in seminars, student organizations, and disciplinary incidents. We also use CCTV monitoring within Academy premises for safety and security.
Unsolicited Information: If we receive personal data without prior request, we will determine if it relates to our legitimate educational interests. If not, it will be disposed of securely.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data as permitted by law to pursue our legitimate interests, including:
Evaluating applications for admission and processing enrollment.
Maintaining student records, including grades, seatwork, and exams.
Generating reports for MARINA, CHED, or other regulatory maritime bodies.
Establishing student information systems and RFID-based attendance tracking.
Processing scholarships, grants, and financial assistance.
f. Investigating behavioral incidents and implementing disciplinary measures.

h. Communicating official announcements and school-related marketing.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We may share your information with authorized personnel and third parties when necessary for academic or administrative purposes, such as:
Posting class lists and schedules on official bulletin boards.
Sharing information with maritime agencies or shipping companies for internship and job placement (shipboard training).
Submitting required reports to government regulatory agencies (e.g., MARINA, PCG, CHED).
Coordinating with insurance providers or medical facilities in case of emergencies.
4. Retention and Breach Handling
Your data is retained only as long as necessary for legal, regulatory, or historical purposes. In the event of a data breach, the Academy will follow NPC protocols to notify affected individuals and mitigate risks.
